Happy Memorial Day! We are so thankful for the service men and women who have protected our freedom, even when it meant that they lost everything. Our church, Velocity, was part of our city parade today. Justin and I were happy to be a part of it! Justin made SO MANY children happy today as he volunteered to be Sponge Bob :) He really enjoyed making the kids smile--he stopped and gave hugs, high fives and posed for countless pictures! Handyman Husband
Justin is amazing. I have loved being his wife for almost 20 months :) I enjoy learning about him each day. What I have learned recently is that he really enjoys learning how to take care of things around our house. He is not at all afraid to try something new--I admire that. So, I guess I married an incredibly handsome, intelligent, sweet, romantic, environmentally friendly, compassionate and handy guy! I praise God for him, I really do! Below are some of his latest projects!
The rain barrel that he learned how to make from the Handyman Magazine Grandpa got him :) this way we don't use city water for lawn and garden purposes
His usual work-around-the-house gear
We planted tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, carrots and cucumbers
Our tiny garden. Justin built the frame and put up the chicken wire to keep the critters out
Look what we found under our deck! Justin had to get the water drained with the neighbor's wet vac (this is actually what he would like for his birthday!)
We are enjoying our long weekend together--we hope you are, too!

Painting Project
We moved the furniture we had in the guest bedroom
Taking out the many screws left in the walls
Justin and I are spending more and more of our weekend time together working on projects around the house. We have a "to do" list and enjoy checking things off our list! Last weekend we decided to tackle a painting job in the small room at the top of the stairs. We anticipate that there will be a child in this room in the relatively near future :) The color is called Tropical Lagoon--sort of a Florida feel (where we met) and suitable for either a boy or a girl.
